Hey there! I’m Mariah!
I am currently a full-time photographer located in Brookings, SD which is where I spent 5 years going to college and playing basketball for the Jacks. I am originally from Minnesota and make frequent trips back there to see family and photograph sessions. I love traveling, Springer Spaniels, horseback riding, and I always crave a good burger and Diet Coke! I am happily married to the biggest goofball. He loves to hunt and fish in his free time as well as build beautiful woodwork! Together, we love being outdoors, playing with our energetic dog Jackson and hanging out on the lake! We are both passionate about our faith and continue to pursue God’s plan for our lives.
How did I get started?
I was gifted my first camera just under 4 years ago and fell into the world of wedding photography when my college basketball teammate asked me to photograph her wedding. For the next few years, I continued to photograph weddings on the side while attending school for advertising and graphic design. I have continued to explore different paths in photography and feel extremely blessed to have met so many amazing people. I have found that love fuels my fire. I love being able to capture all forms of emotion whether that’s between a bride and groom, a mother and son or you and your pup! Love is such a unique and expressive thing and photographs are the perfect way to freeze those moments that we will cherish forever!
How do I describe myself as a photographer?
My personality is upbeat, passionate and focused. I love adventurous couples and I am always up for something “different”. I love to make my clients laugh, whether that’s telling a bad joke, my bad coordination getting the best of me or just poking fun at a groomsman. I am energetic and have a get-r-done mentality. I love having meaningful relationships with my clients and photographing people who are excited to have their story captured. I love photos that are warm and bright and black/white photos never get old.
So whether you are about to propose, just had your first child, or you’ve been married for 50 years, I want to be apart of your story. If you are ready for an adventure, a good belly laugh, and so much love, you’ve come to the right place. I cannot wait to meet you!
